CHRISSIE HYNDE is determined to honour her late THE PRETENDERS bandmates with a new box set she hopes will see them finally receive the respect they deserve. The 54-year-old singer convinced the new collection will draw attention to the contributions made by original bassist PETE FARNDON and guitarist JAMES HONEYMAN-SCOTT, who died of drug overdoses in 1982 and 1983 respectively. She says, "I'm hovering at the moment, trying to find out if I still want to do this. We're doing a short tour and, if that feels good we might do something else. But I have to be careful. "If I keep having to relive my 'magic moments' I might jack it all in. The Pretenders were always a team effort and I'm doing this for the sake of the team. "I don't care whether or not anyone buys the box set. They can download it, or steal it for all I care. I just wanted to set the record straight for Pete and James. "Pete was a great rocker and a brilliant bassist. James was one of the best guitarists this country has produced. But, because he died at 25, not many people know about him. If nothing else I hope people will appreciate him now."
