Beloved comic BOB HOPE became so friendly with FBI boss J EDGAR HOOVER, after poking fun at the power player, that he once called the feds in to help him investigate a shooting at his Hollywood home.
Hope had his own FBI file in the late 1950s after making fun of Hoover and suggesting he was a cross-dresser.
But the two later became friends, according to personal Hope documents leaked to American TV show EXTRA!
The funnyman also called on Hoover's help in 1970 when a guard reported three rapid gunshots fired at his Los Angeles mansion.
Police found a broken window in Hope's trophy room, but nothing was missing. At that point, the FBI got involved and discovered the break-in appeared to be an inside job.
They also discovered that the guard who reported the gunshots was carrying a gun and he wasn't supposed to. He also refused to take a lie-detector test.
Hoover also advised Hope when the comic received a slew of death threats.
