Rockers HOOBASTANK have publicly thanked TV shows FRIENDS and THE OC for helping to triple their audience on the strength of one song.

The shows used Hoobastank's anthem THE REASON in episodes and the song went on to become a huge hit in America.

And now the same fans who bought the single are buying up copies of the group's new eponymous album.

Singer DOUG ROBB tells BILLBOARD.COM, "That was probably the single largest reason why the audience basically tripled because once it (the single) hit top 40 or pop radio... the success of those formats really just opened doors to a lot of new fans."
