MARTIN HENDERSON - HENDERSON'S JOKE ALMOST LEADS TO ARREST

NEWS BY ARTIST ALPHABETICALLY

Actor MARTIN HENDERSON is learning to curb his New Zealand sense of humour - after he almost got arrested by Los Angeles police.

The BRIDE AND PREJUDICE star, 29, was recently joking about with a female friend by attempting to "shove her into a truck" when cops mistook his playfulness for attempted kidnapping and apprehended him.

He says, "I was joking around one night with some mates. We picked up our girl friend, I grabbed her head, my mate grabbed her feet and we were trying to shove her into my truck.

"Within seconds, four police cars screamed up, lights flashing, guns drawn.

"They threw us against the hood of the car, handcuffed us... She's screaming, 'They're my friends' and the police are saying, 'It's OK, ma'am, we have 'em.'"

Henderson has also discovered a language barrier since moving stateside.

He explains, "Americans are puritanical. In Australia and New Zealand, you'd say, 'He's a good c***, that guy'.

"We were at a party, and this American was going home and someone said, 'See ya, c***.'

"This guy stopped in his tracks like he'd been punched in the face...we could not convince him we were just being nice."
