MICHAEL DOUGLAS - HAMSTRING PROBLEMS LEFT DOUGLAS LAGGING

MICHAEL DOUGLAS struggled to keep up with his younger co-stars KIEFER SUTHERLAND and EVA LONGORIA in secret service thriller THE SENTINEL, after pulling a hamstring just before filming started. The 61-year-old star felt sure he'd be able to literally give chain-smoking Sutherland a run for his money, and never even considered he'd be left lagging behind a high-heel-wearing Longoria in action scenes. He confesses, "I pulled a hamstring so it took awhile to heal. My co-star Kiefer runs like the wind and is not going to wait around for me. "I thought maybe I'd have to stop and look around for some evidence in the scene, while he's going ahead of me. I said to him, 'You're fast, did you run in school?' And he said, `Yes, I have my track high school record.' "But I wasn't ready for Eva, who was passing me with high heel shoes on, so I knew I was in trouble."
