GWYNETH PALTROW - GWYNETH SURPRISED ABOUT APPLE FUSS

GWYNETH PALTROW is still puzzled about the furore surrounding her baby daughter APPLE's name - because she knows plenty of Apples.

The actress thought the name - her rocker husband CHRIS MARTIN's idea - was perfect because it's both unique and "sweet" and was baffled when the media made such a fuss.

She says, "When we were first pregnant, her daddy said, 'If it's a girl I think her name should be Apple,' and it sounded so sweet, and it conjured such a lovely picture for me.

"Apples are so sweet and wholesome and it's biblical and I just thought it sounded so lovely, clean. I just thought, 'Perfect,' and she was born, and it became an international outrage, which I found surprising because there are people named ROSE and LILY or IVY or JUNE - lots of pretty nouns.

"Since she was born, I've heard of some other Apples."
