TOM GREEN - GREEN'S FIERY FOUL

Comedian TOM GREEN's feet were engulfed in flames recently, when a stunt for JAY LENO's chat show went dramatically wrong.

The Canadian funnyman is a roving reporter on the programme, on a quest to find the most interesting person in each state of America.

In the segment, which aired in America last night (01DEC04), Green travelled to Eureka, California, and met with a fire spinner. He was so thrilled with the burning string of fire, he asked if he could skip on it.

But he missed his turn to jump and ended up with blazing ball tangled around his foot - prompting a member of the crew to run out and deaden the flame.

An undeterred Green said, "Oh boy, that was exciting. Let's try that again!"

He eventually pulled off the stunt successfully during the segment, in which he also met a tree-sitter, who claims to have been in a redwood tree for a year without touching ground.

Kinetic artist DUANE FLATMO - who makes sculptures out of junk and plays the guitar with a handheld electric mixer - won the title of California's most interesting resident.
