GREEN DAY and CHRIS ROCK proved their popularity with America's children on Saturday (01APR06), each taking two gongs at the Kids Choice Awards. The punk rockers were named Favourite Music Group and their hit track WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS earned them the Favourite Song accolade. Rock was named the best role model, taking home the Wannabe Award, and his vocal role in cartoon movie MADAGASCAR won him Favourite Voice From An Animated Movie. LINDSAY LOHAN and WILL SMITH were honoured as Favourite Actress and Actor respectively, while pop star JESSE MCCARTNEY and AMERICAN IDOL winner KELLY CLARKSON were named the best male and female singers. Triumphant Rock told the crowd, "When I was a kid I wanted to be EDDIE MURPHY, and now I'm a ripoff of Eddie Murphy." Meanwhile, Green Day frontman BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG urged children, "Don't believe everything you see on television, and stick it to the man."
