CARY GRANT - GRANT SCORES SUAVE NUMBER ONE

Movie legend CARY GRANT has been crowned the number one style icon of all time, 17 years after his death.

The NORTH BY NORTHWEST actor - famed for his sharp suits and immaculate presentation - beat late crooner FRANK SINATRA and acclaimed actor SIR SEAN CONNERY to land the top spot in the poll of 8,000 people by British clothes chain BURTONS.

Current JAMES BOND hunk PIERCE BROSNAN came fourth, ahead of SAMUEL L JACKSON, rocker DAVID BOWIE and actors COLIN FIRTH and GEORGE CLOONEY.

Sinatra's RAT PACK colleague DEAN MARTIN and NOTTING HILL star HUGH GRANT completed the top 10.

A spokesman says, "Black tie is a look that never dates."
