Gloria Estefan - Gloria Estefan Includes Back Scar On Album Back Cover

GLORIA ESTEFAN has given the back cover of her new album UNWRAPPED an unusual touch - by showcasing her back scar on it.

The 1-2-3 hitmaker broke her back in a near-fatal bus accident in 1990 and took a year to recover from her injuries. But rather than hide the scar she still bears years later, Estefan has opted to celebrate it as a sign of her strength by having it decorated for fans to see.

She says, "The guy that did the artwork is an amazing artist and his last series was all just about skin and writing. The idea was that when you're a writer, everything comes from within, which is very much like that on this album. I wrote all the lyrics and a lot of the music.

"If you were to write from the inside out it would be backwards on your skin, so the entire shoot on the CD is just skin and writing. He used me as a canvas. He painted on me, he threw coloured sand and it was really spectacular. So since we were gonna do the back cover we said, 'Well, it's gonna be (my) back.'"
