British pop star GEORGE MICHAEL has hailed his 1989 American Music Award wins as his greatest career achievement, despite triumphing at the Grammys and Brit Awards as well.
Michael has won Grammys for Best R+B Performance By A Duo Or Group With A Vocal for I KNEW YOU WERE WAITING (FOR ME) in 1987 and Album Of The Year for FAITH in 1988, as well as four Brit Awards, including Best Male Artist in 1988 and 1997.
He has also been named Ivor Novello Songwriter Of The Year twice.
However, the FAST LOVE hitmaker admits he really felt he had 'made it' as a solo artist when he won two AMAs.
He says, "The AMAs in 1989... I got the Best Album Award and I got Best R+B Singer, I think that was the proudest moment in my life."
