George Michael Snubs Musical Offer
GEORGE MICHAEL has been offered a fortune to create his own musical - based on his early days in eighties pop group WHAM!.
The AMAZING singer, 40, has been approached to write a production based on the phenomenally successful band he formed with school friend ANDREW RIDGLEY.
Michael and Ridgley enjoyed a string of hits - including British chart toppers CLUB TROPICANA and WAKE ME UP BEFORE YOU GO-GO - before they split in 1986.
Michael says, "I have been offered mega bucks, but to be honest, while the money is good I find the whole thing so cheesy and sad.
"I have not completely ruled it out, though.
"You can never say never."
So far the songs of ABBA, QUEEN, BUDDY HOLLY, ELVIS PRESLEY and ROD STEWART have all inspired hit theatre shows.
