Geldof Slams Criticism Of A Lack Of African Artists At Live 8
Live 8 organiser SIR BOB GELDOF has again dismissed criticism there weren't enough African artists on the charity event's bill, despite the fact it was staged to alleviate poverty in the continent.
Since the July (05) extravaganza, a number of celebrities - including BLUR frontman DAMON ALBARN - have slammed Geldof for his choice of predominantly white acts.
But Geldof believes the African youth wanted to watch internationally successful artists including EMINEM as opposed to local, relatively unknown artists.
He tells British magazine GQ, "Young Africans want to see Eminem and 50 CENT. Not even having (NELSON) MANDELA on stage there (in London) made a difference."
