Gay DOCTOR WHO star JOHN BARROWMAN was amazed when WILL + GRACE producers told him he was "too straight" for a role in the hit comedy.

The DE-LOVELY actor, 38, came out as a homosexual during his twenties and is currently planning to 'wed' his long-term love, SCOTT GILL, in a same-sex civil ceremony, which was made legal in Britain last month (DEC05).

Barrowman auditioned for the role of gay lawyer WILL TRUMAN in 1998, but lost out to heterosexual actor ERIC McCORMACK, who is married with one child.

He says, "The fact is typical of homophobic Hollywood. And the sad thing is it's run by gay men and women."
