JANEANE GAROFALO is the latest star to appear in TV hit THE WEST WING - and is set for explosive storylines as a controversial media strategist.

The 40-year-old actress is will play the new director of communications, LOUISE THORNTON, hired by Democratic congressman MATT SANTOS, played by JIMMY SMITS, who urges politicians to concentrate on connecting with the electorate instead of playing politics.

Garofalo, a keen political commentator, has postponed plans to write a book on politics due to her new role, which is expected to air on 2 October (05).
