Elton John - Furnish Plans New 'Vanity Fair'

SIR ELTON JOHN's partner DAVID FURNISH is hoping to make a film exposing the 'It girls' of high society.

The documentary maker - who has previously masterminded documentaries on the VERSACE and GUCCI fashion houses - wants his project to update the classic novel VANITY FAIR.

He says, "It would be set around the restaurant, party and magazine scene, which I am , of course, well acquainted with.

"(Gold-digging heroine) BECKY SHARPE would be based upon a composite of various It-girls and aspiring It-girls - there are certainly enough of them around to choose from.

"We now live in a 'celebritocracy' - that's what society has become and it's important to reflect that.

"I would love to cast KEIRA KNIGHTLEY in the role, she is such a talented actress and seems to go from strength to strength."
