British comedian STEPHEN FRY's debut script for hit BBC drama DOCTOR WHO has been axed from the second series because the storyline is too ambitious.
The GOSFORD PARK actor penned an episode for the long-running sci-fi series which was due to air on BBC1 at Easter (06).
But chief writer RUSSELL T DAVIES has postponed Fry's show because of the complex production techniques.
A BBC insider says, "Stephen's script is in its third draft and it's so ambitious that Russell T Davies decided it fitted in better with the next run.
"It will give the team more time to sort out all the special effects and prosthetics."
