THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY star MARTIN FREEMAN has blasted fast food giant KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN for their unethical treatment of poultry.

The feisty actor has written to the chain regarding the shocking conditions in which its chickens are bred - and he hopes his strong words will make a difference.

Freeman isn't the only celebrity to have slammed the popular junk-food trade for its dubious treatment of animals - former BEATLE SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and PRETENDERS frontwoman CHRISSIE HYNDE have both campaigned on behalf of animal rights group PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS (PETA).
