PETER - FARRELLY BROTHERS TO REMAKE THE VALET

NEWS BY ARTIST ALPHABETICALLY

THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY directors PETER and BOBBY FARRELLY have won a Hollywood bidding war to adapt the hit French film THE VALET. The remake will be based on FRANCIS VEBER's hit film, which has grossed more than $17 million (GBP9.7 million) since its release in France three weeks ago (03APR06). The movie follows a hapless valet who is captured in a photo of a fight between a DONALD TRUMP-type mogul and his mistress, leading to all sorts of comedic entanglements. Four Hollywood studios were bidding for the rights to remake the comedy last week (ends21APR06), which eventually went to Dreamworks Pictures. This will mark the third film remake for the directors, who previously remade FEVER PITCH (based on a 1997 British film centred on soccer) and THE HEARTBREAK KID (a remake of the 1972 comedy that had yet to be released).
