LATEST: Actor COLIN FARRELL lead the emotional tributes at his grandfather's funeral in Dublin, Ireland, yesterday (16MAY05).

The PHONE BOOTH star stifled his legendary foul language for the sad occasion, and delivered an oration to more than 100 mourners, describing JIMMY MONAGHAN, 89, as the "most beautiful of men".

Farrell also read a moving poem he'd written in tribute to Monaghan inside the Our Lady Of Good Counsel Catholic Church.

The actor quipped at the funeral mass, "Grandad would never curse, so it's fitting that I should now be standing in front of you today."

Farrell returned home from Hollywood after learning of Monaghan's passing on Thursday (12MAY05) after a long battle with illness.
