Irish heart-throb COLIN FARRELL always wears his lucky underpants when he starts a new film - because they've never failed to bring him good fortune.

The PHONE BOOTH star - who has been linked with leading ladies ANGELINA JOLIE and ROSARIO DAWSON - refuses to start work until he's donned the shamrock-design boxer shorts and has promised to keep up the tradition throughout his career.

He explains, "My brother gave them to me. They're my lucky charm.

"If I don't have them, I won't come out of the trailer. They're starting to get a bit old now but I could never part with them."
