DEF LEPPARD frontman JOE ELLIOTT insists sex and drugs are an essential part of the rock 'n' roll lifestyle, despite guitarist STEVE CLARK's overdose death in 1991. The LET'S GET ROCKED singer witnessed first hand how alcohol and prescription drugs destroyed Clark, although he continued to party following the guitarist's death. However, fellow Def Leppard guitarist PHIL COLLEN gave up boozing. Elliott says, "Phil and Steve made (JOE) PERRY and (STEVEN) TYLER of AEROSMITH look like (STAN) LAUREL and (OLIVER) HARDY. "They were out of control, but they never let us down. "Rock 'n' roll isn't an exact science. There has to be an element of danger."
