Actress KIRSTEN DUNST can relate to tragic French queen MARIE ANTOINETTE - because she has also been placed under intense pressure from a very young age.

Dunst, who plays Antoinette in SOPHIA COPPOLA's new biopic, empathises with the young royal's escapist behaviour, insisting it was her only way of dealing with the life she had been dealt.

She says, "Everyone was judging her. I can definitely relate to that - starting so young in this industry as I did - growing up in not a very normal way.

"I can understand why her behaviour was ostentatious.

"When you're a girl all alone, fashion and parties become an escape. And she was so isolated. She was in a pretty prison."
