Former X-FILES star DAVID DUCHOVNY has hinted reports he and co-star GILLIAN ANDERSON endured a difficult off-screen relationship are true - by suggesting you can create romantic chemistry with people you dislike.
The 43-year-old actor was discussing his natural screen frisson with new leading lady NIA VARDALOS in comedy caper CONNIE AND CARLA when he let slip that it is possible to act romantic towards a co-star you don't really get on with.
During the popular conspiracy theory drama, reports of discord between Duchovny and Anderson were rife - with many suggesting they were unable to tolerate each other's presence off-set.
Duchovny says, "If you don't have it (chemistry), it can be a drag - then it's your job to try to create it. It's not about sex or anything like that, but about two performers who get into each other's rhythm.
"That's sexy in a way because you're saying, 'OK, I'm going to play with you on this level.' That's what chemistry is. And you can have it with someone when you don't like each other."
