DAVID DUCHOVNY learned one of CHARLIE CHAPLIN's movie secrets while researching his role as the silent film star's number one cameraman for the CHAPLIN biopic.

The X-FILES star played ROLLIE TOTHEROH (corr) in the 1992 movie and decided to find out how Chaplin ran his movie sets to prepare for the part.

He explains, "I did some physical research on the camera because it was cranked and I went to the place where they keep the old cameras and there was a guy that knew everything about how they worked and how these guys worked them.

"He said that a lot of guys would hum a tune that would give them the right rhythm, and they undercranked a little, which Chaplin liked a lot because it made things funnier.

"You had different songs for different speeds."

Duchovny admits he found songs to hum while he was making the movie, so he looked just like he imagined Totheroh would look.
