Movie stars MICHAEL DOUGLAS and JEREMY IRONS personally delivered a donation for Thai victims of last month's (26DEC04) tsunami, to the country's Prime Minister THAKSIN SHINAWATRA.
The OSCAR-winning actors - who are attending the BANGKOK INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, where Irons' BEING JULIA is screening - handed over a cheque for $26,000 (GBP14,000) collected at a Hollywood fundraiser.
Douglas, who has been named a UNITED NATIONS messenger of peace, said he would return to the stricken country with his wife CATHERINE ZETA-JONES to offer more support.
Shinawatra confirmed Hollywood stars have donated a total of $263,000 (GBP138,000) to the Thai government's relief fund.
He says, "I want to express my gratitude to Hollywood's stars for their contribution and for their support of the Bangkok International Film Festival. I hope that they will come to use Thailand as a location (in their films)."
