THE LIBERTINES - DOHERTY ON SUICIDE WATCH

THE LIBERTINES star PETE DOHERTY has been placed on suicide watch in his rehabilitation after nurses found evidence of past self-harm upon his person.

Doherty was admitted to London's PRIORY CLINIC on Friday (14MAY04) to combat his addiction to crack cocaine, but - in postings on his personal website - he says he is feeling better today (18MAY04), despite being checked on every ten minutes by concerned staff.

He writes, "Still on suicide watch which is '10 minutes obs' which is '10 minutes observations'. Not sure why... but nothing could be further from my mind as I awake brighter tailed and bushier eyed than I have done for many a year.

"Might even try a few press-ups... I may venture out of the small vicinity. I've thus far been too zonked out to leave, but I've decided to give this crackless life a crack so adieu... a stroll around the grounds is in order."
