THE LIBERTINES - DOHERTY NEEDS URGENT HELP FRIENDS WARN

THE LIBERTINES frontman PETE DOHERTY has been warned by his friends to quit drugs - or he will die.

Friends of the 25-year-old guitarist told British newspaper SUNDAY MIRROR the star is taking heroin just days after quitting a drug rehab clinic in Thailand - and believe it could have a fatal repercussions unless he gets help.

Doherty managed three days of the month-long programme at THAMKRABOK MONASTERY near Bangkok - before returning to London last Wednesday (16JUN04).

A source says, "Pete needs help and he needs it now or he is going to end up on a mortuary slab.

"His so-called friends are just plying him with heroin.

"He's fallen back into his old ways and it's worrying everyone."
