LIBERTINES - DOHERTY IN WRITING DISPUTE WITH LIBERTINES

LATEST: Former LIBERTINES singer PETE DOHERTY has called in his lawyers in a dispute over writing credits for their most recent album.

The troubled rocker, who was ousted from the British band in May (04) for his incessant heroin use, is furious at being handed a 50 per cent share for 'co-writing' tracks with CARL BARAT on THE LIBERTINES album - which he views as solo efforts.

Many of the songs appearing on the album date from sessions Doherty wrote for his current project BABYSHAMBLES.

Doherty says of his treatment from the band, "They left me by the side of the road with a plastic bag and all kinds of bitterness."

A source tells British newspaper THE INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY that Doherty wants "an honest division" of the songwriting royalties.
