PETE DOHERTY - DOHERTY FAILS BAIL

LATEST: Rocker PETE DOHERTY has been sent to prison on remand after admitting his third drug offence in a just a month.

The BABYSHAMBLES frontman will be held on remand until he is sentenced by magistrates next month (FEB05).

Doherty, 26, was arrested in east London yesterday (26JAN06) by police who observed him looking dishevelled and suspicious. He was found to be in possession of heroin.

Judge STEPHEN DAWSON rejected Doherty's lawyer SEAN CURRAN's pleas to release the singer on bail ahead of his sentencing on 8 February, saying, "I'm sorry if my order will affect your fans and people who go to your concerts."

On 8 February Doherty will be sentenced for a number of other drugs possession offences he admitted at two separate court hearings earlier this month (JAN06).

His arrest yesterday (26JAN06) was the second in the space of a day and his third in a month on suspicion of possessing class A drugs. He has also been questioned about allegations he assaulted a female fan at a concert earlier this month (JAN06).

Babyshambles are currently midway through a UK tour.
