LATEST: Doctors are considering operating on GEORGE CLOONEY's back, after suspecting he injured it while filming a strenuous torture scene in his upcoming movie SYRIANA.
Clooney was recently forced to cancel a string of press appearances to promote his new film OCEAN'S TWELVE after aggravating a ruptured disc in his back.
His Ocean's Twelve and Syriana co-star MATT DAMON says, "He's still getting checked by all these specialists.
"(In Syriana) there's a scene where he gets tortured and he was slinging his head around so they think he did something there that he wasn't aware of and then a month later kind of aggravated it.
"He put on 30 pounds for that movie and then he kinda made this aggressive campaign to lose the weight. I think this torture scene where he aggravated it kind of combined with this workout regimen (to prompt the injury).
"Now it's like the decision whether or not they operate or whatever."
