Hip-hop star DMX suffered extreme physical abuse during his childhood - at the hands of his mother.
The rapper - who has served time in jail for robbery - is still scared when his mum tells him off, because it sparks painful memories of her often violent treatment of him.
He says, "I got beat with s**t like hangers, extension cords, a broom.
"Once I had my teeth knocked out by my mum. I know what it's like to get beat up."
