CAMERON DIAZ - DIAZ CASE RESTED

LATEST: The defence has rested in CAMERON DIAZ's court case against photographer JOHN RUTTER.

Rutter stands accused of forging GANGS OF NEW YORK star Diaz's signature on a release form, enabling him to publish a set of topless photos of her.

Although the 42-year-old has since accepted the signature was probably fake, he originally told Los Angeles Superior Court the identification mark on the 1992 document was genuine.

Rutter's defence lawyer MARK WERKESMAN insists another party may be responsible for the forgery.

Rutter denies forging Diaz's signature and attempted grand theft. He also faces a perjury charge.

The snapper tried to sell the raunchy shots back to Diaz for $3.5 million (GBP2 million) before he decided he'd try and sell them to a magazine.

A judge has ordered a permanent injunction prohibiting Rutter from distributing the images.
