JOHNNY DEPP - DEPP TO ACT IN FRENCH

Hollywood A-lister JOHNNY DEPP is poised to bring his passion for all things French to the big screen - by starring in a Gallic movie.

ILS SE MARIERENT ET EURENT BEAUCOUP D'ENFANTS - which literally translates as THEY GOT MARRIED AND HAD LOTS OF CHILDREN - marks the 40-year-old's first venture into foreign language films.

The flick, which begins shooting at the end of the month (SEP03), also stars British born actress CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG - wife of the film's director and writer YVAN ATTAL - and sexy Parisian EMMANUELLE SEIGNER.

Depp, who lives in France with his lover VANESSA PARADIS and their two children, yesterday (03SEP03) slammed his native America for being "dumb" and labelled US politicians "idiots" for re-naming French Fries Freedom Fries.
