Hollywood hunk JOHNNY DEPP has hailed THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN success with boosting the popularity of his back catalogue, including his flops.
Audiences worldwide were spellbound by Depp's character CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW in THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL in 2003, but Depp is genuinely baffled by the movie's mass appeal.
He says, "It's a very strange thing that happened with The Pirates Of The Caribbean. After the release of that film, I started meeting people in the street, five-year-old children and 70-year-old women who would say how much they liked Captain Jack Sparrow. And then you come across people who say they like BENNY AND JOON.
"Pirates has given new life to these other films that I did - films that made $3.75 at the box office."
