TIM BURTON - DEPP AND BURTON RE-TEAM FOR SWEENEY TODD

Director TIM BURTON and JOHNNY DEPP are reuniting to make a feature film based on the STEPHEN SOUNDHEIM musical SWEENEY TODD. The PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN star's schedule has recently been freed up, after director PETER WEIR quit Depp's SHANTARAM project yesterday (12JUN06), pushing the production back to early next year (07). Depp will play Todd in the new musical, a barber and serial killer who cuts his victims throats with a razor. Burton and Depp have enjoyed a fruitful working partnership which has taken in CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, SLEEPY HOLLOW, ED WOOD and EDWARD SCISSORHANDS.
