Beloved screen star DELLA REESE has realised one positive thing about the cancellation of her show TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL - it allowed her to enjoy a long rest for the first time in 71 years.

The 72-year-old actress, singer and ordained minister admits she'd been working non-stop for decades, right up until the point her show came to an end after nine years.

She says, "I took time off after we filmed out last episode last year. It was the first time I had been off for a year since I was six years old, and I am 72.

"I realised my husband had built us a house here in Los Angeles, and we had been in it for three years - and I had never even sat down in the living room.

"I'd get home from working on the show in Salt Lake City, go straight to bed, get up and do church business, and then services Sunday, and then get back on a plane back to Utah."
