British actor DAVID HEMMINGS has died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 62 while filming in Romania.
Hemmings had just completed a day shooting new movie SAMANTHA'S CHILD when he collapsed and died, according to his agent.
After making his name in quirky film classics BLOW UP and BARBARELLA in the sixties, Hemmings turned his hand to TV and film directing before returning to acting in recent blockbusters GLADIATOR and GANGS OF NEW YORK.
A statement from his agent LIZ NELSON reads, "Sadly, whilst filming in Romania, David Hemmings collapsed suddenly and died of a heart attack. As always, he was accompanied by his wife LUCY.
"He had just finished his final shots of the day and was going back to his dressing room, as far as we know.
"He had only recently returned to acting. He opted for a number of years to work on his own projects, directing and producing."
Hemmings is survived by his third wife LUCY WILLIAMS, and five children from two previous marriages.
