R+B star CRAIG DAVID helped deal with the grief he suffered following his grandmother's death last year (04) by writing a song in tribute to his beloved family member.

The BORN TO DO IT hitmaker took inspiration from his grandma, and the lyrics to LET HER GO are so heartfelt they brought his mother to tears when she heard them for the first time.

David's grandmother always took a deep interest in his career and stayed abreast of the latest of the latest developments in urban music well into her eighties - and the 24-year-old is determined to live his life to the full in honour of her memory.

He says, "It proved life is too short. I can't be looking back in 30 or 40 years thinking, 'What did I do through my twenties? Did I go to a lot of different countries and perform and embrace what I had?

"My gran was 84 when she died but she was still aware of people like USHER. She was in tune big time. My mum broke down in tears when she first heard Let Her Go.

"She's always been an important part of my songwriting process. She gives a real honest opinion."
