Reggaeton star DADDY YANKEE is adamant the music industry will never defeat piracy, because young people in developing countries can't afford to buy legitimate CDs. The Puerto Rican Grammy-winner spoke out during his concert in Lima, Peru, on Saturday (10JUN06), arguing he can knows people in South America are so poor, they don't care about the consequences of piracy. Yankee told his audience, "You can't control (piracy). They are gonna keep on doing it. "Sometimes, economically speaking, in different countries... it's hard for a kid to buy your record. "Nothing matters because the kid is poor." Music and software piracy are common in Peru - more than half its population reportedly survives on less than $2 (GBP1.10) a day.
