FLAMING LIPS - COYNE: 'FORGET BIBLE AND GET REAL'

NEWS BY ARTIST ALPHABETICALLY

THE FLAMING LIPS singer WAYNE COYNE has slammed religious conservatives who turn to the "stupid Bible" for inspiration - insisting real life experience is far more meaningful. The band's new album AT WAR WITH THE MYSTICS is their most emotionally charged yet - because it was made while Coyne watched his mother dying of cancer. And the 45-year-old rocker is anxious fans will see how he "saw the light" through experiencing his mother's strength and love - not through religion. He says, "I hope people hear the record and realise we aren't just spouting the first thing that comes into our head. "When we talk about optimism and the inner light that becomes a true shield for you, we're not just saying something we learnt in some stupid Bible. "It's grounded in experience."
