Legendary Hollywood costume designer MOSS MABRY has died in a hospital in San Diego, California. He was 87.

The four-time Oscar-nominated designer's credits include JAMES DEAN epics GIANT and REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE and a string of DORIS DAY films among an impressive 80 films.

Mabry worked with screen greats like LIZA MINNELLI, LANA TURNER, MARLON BRANDO and ROBERT REDFORD, but he'll perhaps best be remembered for dressing GRACE KELLY in ALFRED HITCHCOCK's DIAL M FOR MURDER.

He was Oscar nominated for his work on GIANT, WHAT A WAY TO GO, THE WAY WE WERE and MORITURI.

In a statement released yesterday (26JAN06), reclusive star Doris Day said, "He designed my clothes on many of my films... He was a dear, sweet man."

Mabry died on Wednesday (25JAN06) after a long battle with respiratory illness and heart problems.
