VANITY FAIR co-stars REESE WITHERSPOON and RHYS IFANS found making the costume drama confusing - because their names are pronounced the same way.

The Hollywood beauty and her Welsh co-star were constantly responding to the wrong calls, from the cast and crew of the MIRA NAIR adaptation of WILLIAM MAKEPEACE THACKERAY's classic novel.

NOTTING HILL actor, Ifans says, "I thought she was fantastic. It got very confusing on set, though. I'd hear, 'Rhys' and reply, and they'd go, 'Not you, the other Reese.'"

Ifans praised the then-pregnant Witherspoon for her down-to-earth lifestyle, explaining, "Reese had hardly any entourage with her at all. Just the belly - that was enough."
