COLDPLAY - COLDPLAY TO DITCH SOFT ROCK

British rockers COLDPLAY plan to ditch their image as a soft rock band.

CLOCKS singer CHRIS MARTIN claim the band's gigs at this weekend's V FESTIVAL in England marked the end of an era for them.

They now plan to take the next few months off to write new material - before returning with a new sound.

Speaking on Saturday night (16AUG03), ahead of Coldplay's final V performance in Stafford yesterday (17AUG03), Martin vowed, "It's going to be the death of soft rock tomorrow night!"
