CHRIS MARTIN - COLDPLAY CHRIS ARRESTED DOWN UNDER

Coldplay frontman CHRIS MARTIN has been arrested in Australia after attacking a photographer's car.

The singer, who is dating actress GWYNETH PALTROW, snapped after paparazzo JOHN LESTER spotted him surfing off Byron Bay on Australia's Gold Coast at the weekend (19-20JUL03).

Martin, who is on the Australian leg of his band's world tour, reportedly hit the cameraman's car windscreen with a rock eight times after Lester refused to scrap them from his digital camera - and then tried to let down his tyres.

Lester says, "He just lost it. I told him I was entitled to take pictures of him on a public beach but he wouldn't accept it.

"He didn't manage to break through the screen but the window now has to be replaced. I didn't get involved but went straight to the police."

Chris was arrested later after admitting the attack to police at the hotel he and Gwyneth are staying in..

The normally straight-laced star will have to return on 8 October (03) to face Magistrates in the town.
