GEORGE CLOONEY - CLOONEY WON'T PLAY TO TYPE

Hunky actor GEORGE CLOONEY is keeping his roles as varied as possible - so he has no onscreen "self" to protect.
The former ER hunk has played a wide variety of roles in recent years, and likes to steer clear of typical Hollywood-style leading-man parts.
He explains, "I want to try and keep things a little more desperate, a little more on the edge. Then at least I feel like I'm not cheating.
"I'm trying desperately not to get caught up in protecting an image, because that image and that audience will change or go away. You can end up missing out on great opportunities or short-changing the performance on things because you're protecting someone.
"The worst thing you can ever do as an actor is try to play to an audience. If you think you have an audience, you're dead."
