Hollywood hunk GEORGE CLOONEY has vowed to give up romantic roles, because he could never age as well as veteran actor SIR SEAN CONNERY.

The OCEANS TWELVE star hates the thought of becoming an ageing lothario past his time, insisting Connery's success is unique.

And the 44-year-old has already put his movie makeover plans in motion by recently playing two less stereotypical roles: as a chubby, bespectacled newsreader in GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK and an overweight CIA man in SYRIANA.

Clooney says, "The guys who survive for years in this business find a way to get out of that box.

"The master of it all is PAUL NEWMAN. I'd like to change like he has.

"I don't want to be 60 and doing love scenes with 35-year-old actresses.
