Movie star GEORGE CLOONEY has been hailed a hero after persuading KING MOHAMMED of Morocco to release a wrongfully-jailed Brit.

The OCEAN'S TWELVE actor was outraged by the plight of JOHN PACKWOOD, who was being held behind bars after being falsely accused of "supplying equipment" to a Colombian drug baron.

But despite sterling work by the British Embassy, Packwood is convinced it was ultimately Clooney's intervention which ensured his freedom.

He says, "George Clooney's letter had an amazing impact.

"I've been told the King is a big film fan - and I actually think it might have been Clooney's letter that swung my release."
