Director MICHAEL BAY is considering GEORGE CLOONEY for the role of Autobot leader OPTIMUS PRIME in the forthcoming movie adaptation of cartoon series TRANSFORMERS.

THE ISLAND filmmaker was surprised by reports Clooney is playing the part of the 18 wheel robotic truck, but is interested in meeting with the OCEAN'S TWELVE hunk to discuss the role.

He says, "I have no idea where the 'George Clooney is Optimus Prime' rumour came from, but we'd definitely consider him."

The family movie is the latest incarnation of the 1980s cult TV show and focuses on a 17-year-old's first car, which turns out to be an alien that can morph into mechanical objects.
