GEORGE CLOONEY got back into his prankster mode while dining out with actor pal RICHARD KIND - by lacing his food with wasabi.

The INTOLERABLE CRUELTY star took a break from filming K STREET, the politically-themed series he's co-producing in Washington, DC, to go for sushi with a few friends on 11 October (03).

And, as Kind was a part of the crowd, Clooney privately told a chef to overload the SPIN CITY star's meal with extra wasabi.

A source says, "The guy was taking bite after bite. His mouth got burned."

According to the source, Clooney had previously lost a bet and had to pick up the tab, so "he was getting even".
